DO WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT?
If another person, or entity (like the government), can tell us what we cannot do, what we must do, and penalize us if we do not comply, then we must ask ourselves whether or not we are a free people, or are we slaves to the whims of an eletist group called "our elected representatives?"
Somehow I have always had the idea that it was the job of Congress to represent the wishes of their constituants, irrespective of their own personal desires, beliefs and philosophies.
On the health care issure poll after poll, even those of liberal groups and organizations, showed that 70% or more of all Americans didn't want it, but the liberal Democrat controlled Congress passed it anyway. Didn't they know what the public wanted? You would have to believe that they aren't very smart to believe that. Sure they knew. Their objective was, and continues to be, the acquisition and consolidation of political power.... and the desires and welfare of their constituants is of no concern to them.
Well, the time has come to stand up and show the power seekers in this country, as provided in our Constitution, that it is we, the citizens, not the politicians, who are the ultimate authority in this country. It is time for the voters to make the ultimate statement regarding their authority and throw out ALL incumbents. Wouldn't that be a rather drastic thing to do? Yes, it absolutely would, and that's just the point. There could be no stronger and louder statement made by the voters than to do that. When I have suggested doing that to some folks I know they have responded by saying, "but that would leave us with no one who has experience." My rejoinder has always been, "yes, but you have to ask yourself, could an all new Congress do any worse?" So far I have yet to get a single response in opposition to that question, just a blank stare. Well, maybe, if nothing else, it will start them thinking.
Our best course of action is to support the TEA Party movements for it is they, by their very independence, that is putting pressure on all political parties and segments of the political landscape to listen to what they have to say. The proof of their effectiveness is the violence, lies, propaganda and infiltration we have seen from the liberals and progressives (there is more about this in the Links section of today's Links and Toons).
The next time there is a TEA party gathering near you go to it. Better yet is to grab a friend who has never been and take them with you. Better still is to take several friends with you. Don't take no for an answer. Tell them you will be by to pick them up on the way and don't take "no" for an answer.
