COMMENTARY: After the great depression of the 1930's FDR's Secretary of the Treasury said the stimulus programs they had tried were utter failures and may have even lengthened the depression. France has a history of trying stimulus programs too. None of them worked there either. A few years ago Japan tried it eight times. None of them worked. There is a saying something like, "insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results?" Perhaps we should require our politicians to have a better knowledge of history.

Something to consider. If the detainees in Guantanamo are brought to the US for trial what will happen if some of them are found innocent due to a lack of physical evidence (a real possibility). Will they be released to walk out of the court room as free men as is the normal procedure? Another thing? Who will be paying the defense attorneys?
